About Me! And How to Observe this Blog
Hello! Welcome to my Social Worker Profile project for SOWK 201!
My name is Kara, and though I am not studying to be an actual social worker, I am so excited to be here! The profile picture of this blog is my cat, just because he's adorable.
I am. I am a second-year student studying to become a high school English educator, and my favourite activity is reading. Comments are available on this blog, and I would love to hear from anyone who wants to talk about the content, or just tell me about themselves! What is your favourite book?
So, for this blog to make sense you have to keep in mind that I am studying to be a teacher. Throughout the modules and readings, I have noticed so much overlap between the two professions, so when I am talking about "teaching" and things I would do in my classroom, I am doing so as though I am talking about being an actual social worker. This project is all about reflecting, and my most effective reflection of course involves my real life! Essentially, in this blog, I reflect on key points in each module about how I will use what I have learned in my future as a teacher, or even just as a person. Because so much of my work involves children, a lot of my reflection revolves around children as clients as well.
Another thing to keep in mind is the reflective and personal nature of this blog. I made each entry in the format of how I personally journal. I write out some big reflections, maybe add a visual, and I like to add poems based on what is coming to mind. A lot of the poems in this project specifically are a lot like affirmations. The module 4 entry in particular has affirmations between each paragraph so I can focalize my thoughts and feelings.
Because it is personal, this blog is also formatted to be a bit informal. I am in dialogue with myself, so I really wanted my voice to be present in each entry.
Lastly, sometimes "Module 4" disappears for some reason when viewing the other entries. I can not figure out why! If this happens, click the "Archive" dropdown on the left side of the blog, then click "April 2024" and it should show up along with this entry!
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoy my journey!
